Facebook’s chief technology officer, Bret Taylor speaks of the efforts Facebook is creating to simplify application development on mobile-friendly sites.

Relevance to the Class
The majority of us use Facebook and the applications that are available through it.  Since we are not only Facebook users, but students of website architecture this gives us a sense of what goes on behind the scenes to development these applications.  As Bret Taylor mentioned these application developers use HTML5.

In the past two years, Google has added many changes to the way their search engine runs because they feel threatened by competitors such as Bing.  Below are some of the changes they've added.

Relevance to the Class
This article breaks down the changes that technological companies experience with competition.  As students we must learn to continue to improve our skills, regardless how good we are because there will as be someone out there trying to out-do us.
